Ace cricketer Yuvraj Singh is surely one of the best cricket players from India nowadays and apparently there will be a movie based on his life soon. He will start his career as a Hindi film star in a movie made by his father, Yograj. A really interesting fact is that Yuvi is almost following his father’s career steps. His father also played as a cricketer and he was even in the Indian team one in a game against New Zeeland.
After he saw that he’s not doing too well in this, he decided to skip to Bollywood, but here he hasn’t done too well either. In the end, Yograj became a Punjabi actor and had a lot of appearances in many movies. Some say that after he decided to quit his cricket career he started to burn all his cricket bat, but after Yuvraj was born, his interest in cricket came back and he started training his son to success. The movie hasn’t got a title yet but we know that it will be based on Yuvraj’s struggling days that took him to his success. People are wondering if the movie will only show his professional life, or if it will even show his reel life love as weel. We should see that really soon.

Drew Heriot is making a new film about Jesus’s life when he was young, a period when it is said that he travelled to India, Persia and Tibet. Mallika has been cast as an ascetic who befriends Jesus of Nazareth in his legendary journey. The movie is called “The Aquarian Gospel” and it’s set for release in 2009.
It has a budget of $15 million and it deals with Jesus’ life between the age of 13 and 30, when some believe that he made a great journey to India, Persia and Tibet. Even though it’s not documented in the Gospels, this movie is a mythological and spiritual story that should be a hit. Mallika will play Saraswati which is a loyal friend of Jesus during his travels in India. Even from start, Drew Heriot knew that Mallika would be perfect for this role after he saw her work and interviews. He was impressed by Mallika’s intelligence and background and she accepted the role as a challenge.
The role won’t be too easy for her because there aren’t too many women that accept roles where everything is removed from sexuality but she’ll definitely act perfectly. Casting for this movie is not over yet and we’re still waiting to see who will receive the role of Jesus.
Shah Rukh Khan has consented to work in Raj Kumar Hirani’s next film. Hirani is apprehensive about working with SRK, as it is the first time he is working with such a huge star. Expectations will be definitely be very high after his first two phenomenal successes as director, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ and ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’. Both featured Sanjay Dutt as the protagonist.
Shooting of the film will start at the end of the year. Hirani was planning another Munnabhai sequel Munnabhai Chale America, but it got delayed because of the case hearings of Sanjay Dutt regarding violating the Arms Act.
There was rumored that the film based on the popular novel 5 Point Someone, but Hirani has not confirmed the news.
Deepa Mehta was all praise about John Abraham and his performance in ‘Water’, but we never really thought that she would be the one who would give him an international platform. Right now John is in her two ambitious international projects. One of which is with Amitab Bachchan and another film ‘Luna’ starring Rachel Weisz.
Rachel Weisz is popular Hollywood actress with films like The Mummy, Constantine and Constant Gardner to her credit. She won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Constant Gardner. The film is scripted by two time Oscar winner David Ward.
John’s film ‘Exclusion’ with Amitab will be shot later this year. Deepa Mehta announced ‘Luna’ in Cannes. Although Rachel Weisz would be the main protagonist, playing the title character Luna, John will also have a full-fledged role, says Deepa Mehta.
‘Luna’ is based on a real life story of an American activist and environmentalist Julia Butterfly Hill, who protested against the felling of trees in the Red Wood forests in the US by climbing a 180-foot Redwood tree. The lady climbed down only 738 days later- from 1997 to 1999. The tree was named Luna. The protest had a huge impact and a resolution was formed in 1999 to protect all trees in the 3-acre buffer zone of the Redwood forest.
John is also playing an environmentalist in ‘Luna’, but his cultural origin is not specified He is neither an Indian, nor an American in the film. This makes him Bollywood’s first actor to do a Hollywood film without playing an NRI or some snake charmer.
John was not only her choice says Deepa, “The true-life inspiration for the film, Julia Hill, just loved John. Her approval was very important. She thought he looked like Antonio Banderas!”
At one point Kareena and Karan were biggest of friends, but they had fallout after Kareena refused to do Karan Johar’s ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. It was rumored that Kareena wanted double her market price, which Karan flatly refused.

If you can forgive the fact that Ketan made something like ‘Mangal Pandey- The Rising’, he is a good director. Who can forget ‘Mirch Masala’. But it seems he is all set to prove people wrong that he cannot do a period film.
If Don 2 will ever be made, chances are that Priyanka Chopra, who did a good job in the first installment of Don, wont be there. Sushmita Sen will most likely replace her.
Meanwhile, lots of speculations are going round about the movie, as the filmmakers are tight-lipped about the casting. Some say Amitabh Bachchan will feature in the film. But one thing is for sure, Shah Rukh Khan will have two females opposite him, and Sushmita is one of them.
It is time for people who speculated that SRK is promoting Priyanka, to rethink. After this incident, we now know that Shah Rukh Khan would only promoted someone if he or she fits the bill completely.
Sushmita Sen is not a bad choice actually; remember the chemistry she shared with the King Khan in ‘Mai Hoon Na’, it was really mind-blowing.
Hope you haven’t forgotten ‘Gadar - Ek Prem Katha’. ‘Gadar’ is the most under-rated film among all-time big-hits. And it is also a fact that the film didn’t help the career of anyone behind it.
That withstanding, the production house Zee is planning a sequel to it. Though Sunny Deol is not the same anymore, they know that he was reason behind the success of the first and have retained him as the hero. Zee had a fall-out with Anil Sharma so they have replaced him with Guddu Dhanoa.
History says that, no sequel has ever lived up to expectations. We will have to wait and watch if Gadar 2 can prove it wrong like ‘Krrish’ did.
